Netflix & Binge
There’s no denying it—the nights have gotten colder and most of us would much rather be swaddled in our blankets than out and about on a Friday night. If you’re looking to spend a Netflix weekend kicked back with your significant other, best friends, pets, or snacks, make sure one of these must-sees are first on your list.
1. Shameless
This U.S. remake of a British series is one of the most watched shows of the season. It follows the functionally dysfunctional Gallagher kids as they struggle to live normal lives and make ends meet in spite of their alcoholic father. Seven seasons in and renewed for an eighth, the Gallagher misfits are sure to take you through an emotional yet comedic rollercoaster perfect for binging.
2. A Series of Unfortunate Events
A childhood favorite, this brand new series starring Neil Patrick Harris as the infamous Count Olaf will take you back all the way to elementary school. Follow Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire as they mourn the death of their parents and attempt to escape Count Olaf’s clutches in this thrilling and nostalgia-inducing drama.
3. Black Mirror
In search of something that’ll blow your mind? Look no further than this Twilight Zone-esque sci-fi drama. Each episode contains an entirely different cast, storyline, and reality that centers around dark themes in today’s technological society. Watch all three seasons if you dare.
4. Parks and Recreation
If the three newer shows don’t interest you, try this classic on for size. If you’ve seen it before, watch it again. Leslie Knope and her team at the Pawnee Parks and Recreation Department are here to give you a feel-good, light-hearted, heart-string-tugging experience that’ll have you watching all seven seasons over and over again.
5. Bob Ross
Okay, so maybe one of these is not like the other and maybe this is the one. It’s not exactly captivating and entertaining in the same way the rest of them are, but I’d be lying if I said I haven’t spent an entire weekend watching this painting genius. Any man who can turn a random paint splatter into a wooden paradise is a man who deserves my attention on a Saturday night. Plus, look how fluffy the ‘fro is.
